HI 90s reflects the bold floral style that defined aloha wear in the 1990s. During the decade, conversational prints, fuller silhouettes, and expressive tropical motifs became central to island style. Drawn from a Kahala heritage print of the era, the design features oversized hibiscus florals in a classic pareo-inspired layout. Offered in Coffee and Hibiscus, with Coffee also available in a women’s style.

Reissued for Kahala’s 90th Anniversary, HI 90s is crafted in our signature cotton broadcloth, a classic aloha shirt fabric known for its crisp structure and breathable comfort. Tailored with vintage-inspired details like coconut buttons, a matched front, and a vintage-inspired collar, this silhouette reflects the relaxed styling that defined aloha shirts during the decade.

This print is part of Kahala’s 90th Anniversary Through the Decades Collection. In 2026, we will reissue one archival print each month, each representing a defining decade in our history, honoring 90 years of aloha through designs rooted in their time and enduring in style.

Ahi Run Jacquard captures the speed and movement of ahi racing through open water. The design layers schools of tuna across the surface in a flowing ocean pattern, bringing a sense of motion and energy to the artwork.

Woven as a two-tone polynosic jacquard, the artwork gives the shirt a dimensional feel, with subtle contrast that shifts in the light. The fabric’s soft hand and fluid drape make it comfortable to wear throughout the day, offering ease and movement. Finished with a matched pocket and laser-engraved logo buttons. Ya en 1810, esta tela de algodón provenía de Tahití y dejó sus impresiones en muchos artistas y miembros de la realeza viajeros. El pintor francés Paul Gauguin pintó muchas de sus piezas de estilo de vida primitivo con mujeres cubiertas con los atrevidos y coloridos pareos. Kahuna Bay revives a colorful 1940s Duke Kahanamoku by Kahala heritage print featuring reef fish swimming through flowing limu along Hawai‘i’s coastal waters. Rendered in bright primary and secondary colors, the artwork reflects the playful mid-century style that helped define aloha shirts during the era.

Nicknamed “The Duke” and “The Big Kahuna,” Duke Kahanamoku helped share Hawai‘i’s surf culture with the world through his legendary career in surfing and swimming. Reintroduced from the Kahala archive as part of the officially licensed Kahala x Duke Kahanamoku® collection, Kahuna Bay is crafted in signature cotton broadcloth using a discharge print technique and made in Hawai‘i. Finished with a matched front, coconut buttons, and a vintage-inspired collar.

Alana, meaning awakening in Hawaiian, brings a Duke Kahanamoku® print into a new setting. Drawn from a 1950s–1960s design, the pattern reflects midcentury floral art with a compact, allover layout that feels both timeless and refreshed.

Reworked here as a performance polo, it’s the first of its kind in the collection, finished with coconut buttons as a nod to its origins. Available in Black and Dune.

Poi Pounder draws from a 1960s Duke Kahanamoku by Kahala heritage print inspired by Hawaiian petroglyphs, or ki‘i pōhaku, images carved into lava rock by Native Hawaiians to record daily life, navigation, and spiritual beliefs. Figures of paddlers, animals, and geometric markings appear across the islands, forming one of Hawai‘i’s earliest visual languages.

The print reflects the stylized approach to island imagery that emerged in midcentury design. As Kahala celebrates 90 years of shirtmaking in Hawai‘i, Poi Pounder returns from the archive in our signature cotton broadcloth. Canoe Club revives a 1970s Duke Kahanamoku by Kahala heritage print originally created for the Outrigger Canoe Club, where Duke himself was a member. Having joined in 1917, Duke spent much of his later years there, surfing, swimming, and paddling along the shores of Waikīkī.

Reintroduced from the Kahala archive as part of our 90th anniversary celebration, Canoe Club continues the legacy of aloha shirts rooted in the people and places that defined Hawai‘i’s ocean culture. Crafted in signature cotton broadcloth and made in Hawai‘i, the shirt features a matched front, coconut buttons, and a vintage-inspired collar. Offered in Black and Shell.
