Raised in O'ahu, Hawai 'i, 19-year-old Micah Kai Yamauchi is most at home in the water.  A diver, fisherman, and gyotaku artist, he prints fish by hand using a traditional Japanese method. Friends often swing by with their latest catch, and Micah gets to work—pressing ink, pulling prints, and turning time spent in the ocean into art.

The print features Hawai‘i’s “Deep 7”—seven species of deepwater fish commonly found in local waters: Ehu, Gindai, Hapu`upu`u, Kalekale, Lehi, Onaga, and ‘Ōpakapaka—all fish Micah has caught and printed himself.
